Saturday Sayings AUG 2026: AW Pink

Arthur Wellington Pink, better known as AW Pink, was an English Reformed Bible preacher, teacher and author. He was born in England in 1886, saved by the grace of God in 1908, and became an itinerant preacher in 1920. In 1922, AW Pink began writing a monthly periodical titled Studies in the Scriptures which he continued doing until his death in 1952. He pastored churches in the United States, Australia, and Scotland and is regarded as one of the most influential Christian authors of the 20th century.

“The great mistake made by people is hoping to discover in themselves that which is to be found in Christ alone.” #AWPink

In this quote he rightly points out that it’s a mistake to think we don’t need Christ or that we’re can do better without Him. A person may see themselves as successful, have a huge of social media presence, or be a leader in their community, but any righteousness that they may think they have is as filthy rags when compared to the true righteousness that is found in Christ alone. The truth is we are all sinners and are guilty of breaking the law of God. There’s nothing we can do in our our strength that can change our standing with God. We must come to the end of ourselves and turn to Christ in repentance and faith. It is then that God will begin to look at us and see His Son.

“For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:21

Philippians 3:8-9 further elaborates this truth:

“Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith.” Philippians 3:8-9

In the end, it’ll make no difference what you think of yourself, or what others think of you. In the end it will only matter what God thinks of you.
